Willow House
Here she is...
the dollhouse from my childhood.
My Dad built and gifted this dollhouse to me for Christmas in 198(7?). I believe this is an earlier version of the current Greenleaf 'Willow' kit. There are a few differences bretween my house and the current GL Willow kit but it's pretty darn close. If you recognize my dollhouse as a different model, please let me know. He chose this model because it looked like the house we were living in at the time. Here is a screenshot of said house that I pulled off of Google Maps. This was one of my most favorite gifts from my childhood. I loved (and still do) this dollhouse so much. My Dad gave it to me unfinished so that I could pick out the wallpaper, carpet, etc.. Some of my favorite memories are those of him taking me to the local hobby shop to pick out the finishes. We finished out the interior but I can't remember why we never finished the exterior? Regardless of the exterior, I played with this dollhouse for several year and this little beauty sparked my interest in all things miniature.
For the past few years I have been thinking about building a dollhouse but never purchased one for a number of reasons (lack of space, time, funds). I would LOVE to build the Beacon Hill (one day) but it's just not feasible at this time. I follow a few people on Instagram that renovate old dollhouse which made me think 'I should do that!' so here I am. I figured I'd start a blog to document the process. I've gone back and forth about restoring my dollhouse versus finding another old house. Part of me doesn't want to change this house, part of me wants to keep it exactly as my Dad built it. But then I think it could be great to bring it back to its former glory.
